Sub-Acute Extended Care

To better serve the needs of children ages 3-17 in the inpatient unit, MCH now offers a sub-acute treatment track in addition to the acute treatment track. Both of these treatment approaches will strengthen therapeutic services, smooth transitions, and continuity of care with providers while avoiding regression and readmission to higher levels of care.

Children may transition into and out of the treatment tracks based on recommendation of the treating psychiatrist after consideration of the ability to maintain safety, progress toward treatment goals, and current assessment of symptoms. A psychiatrist will see each patient daily on the inpatient unit in both treatment tracks and will recommend any transitions based on these factors.

Millcreek Community Hospital provides behavioral intervention, group therapy, individual therapy, and milieu therapy within the Sub-Acute Extended Care Program.
