Admissions Coordinator

The LECOM Institute for Successful Aging is accepting applications and resumes for a Full-time Admissions Coordinator at the LECOM Senior Living Center.


The Admission Coordinator is responsible for communication, coordination and overall completion of the clerical portion of the admission process. The purpose of this position is to gather all pertinent information, secure it and provide to staff timely as well as initial completion of initial E.H.R. resident profile information.


  • Will report as assigned to any of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging facilities, such as but not limited to LECOM Senior Living Center, LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation, LECOM at Village Square, Regency at South Shore, Parkside at North East, Parkside at Westminster, LECOM Home Care, Visiting Nurse Association or Lifeworks Erie;
  • Knowledge, skills, attitude, and energy to consistently provide resident centered care;
  • Interact with admission liaisons and families to secure admissions information and document and upload in E.H.R.;
  • In coordination with the liaison team, follow patients in who are in the hospital as well as potential new admissions from hospitals and provide regular updates;
  • Provide engaging facility tours and answers to questions for prospective residents and their families;
  • Practice excellent communication and provide real time updates to all facility staff regarding admissions;
  • Maintain a list of occupied and unoccupied rooms as well as details in regards to those rooms (equipment needs, bathrooms, infections, ventilator, male/female, etc);
  • Collect and audit admission checklists for thorough completion;
  • Follow up on every admission/readmission at the start of the following shift for every admission whose arrival was during scheduled off hours;
  • Coordinate with MDS office and business office staff for required paperwork and insurance information;
  • Complete admission paperwork with resident, family or responsible party;
  • Be sure that all paperwork for individual resident is received from other health care facilities timely (PASSAR, etc);
  • Attend welcome meetings to discuss benefit letter and coverage for stay with guidance from business office;
  • Maintain clerical and technical skills involved with the duties of the position and software;
  • Display empathy when working with residents and families understanding the injury, confusion, and overall transition period for that resident;
  • Work in reception for lunch coverage or as needed;
  • Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Nursing Home Administrator and other management personnel from time to time; and
  • Accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution’s needs.

Education and experience equivalent to:

  • Healthcare or Long Term care experience preferred
  • Healthcare or related degree can be considered as equivalent to experience
