A team player with excellent customer service skills to provide a full range of insurance processing and data analysis duties in support of efficient operations of the LECOM Institute for Behavioral Health (LIBH). To perform services necessary to complete efficient insurance processing for all payor classes.

Skills:

Knowledge of medical terminology with insurance experience required. Must be detail oriented, well organized with speed and accuracy. Knowledge of computers is mandatory along with excellent organizational skills. Excellent telephone etiquette required.

PRINICPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Essential Functions

€ Establishes timely contact with patients for registration in the electronic health record and processing of insurance information.

€ Coordinates with LIBH team to schedule new patient registration for initial assessments and evaluations.

€ Supports LIBH staff and providers with understanding billing and insurance related matters for the assignment of caseloads, authorizing signatures, and other operational needs.

€ Maintains updated insurance information and performs benefit check and determines copays prior to visits.

€ Obtains authorizations and non-par authorizations for services. If attending is changed, obtains corrected authorization.

€ Monitors practice open encounters to assure for timely billing.

€ Ensures patients scheduled with resident providers are registered appropriately.

€ Interfaces with providers to completed medical records timely and accurately using the open encounters report and other reports from the revenue cycle function.

€ Completes facility leveling form for visits.

€ Communicates effectively and maintains productive working relationships with others.

€ Interacts harmoniously by displaying cooperation and sensitivity.

€ Demonstrates service excellence and positive relationships with all internal and external service groups by meeting or exceeding their expectations.

€ Familiar with all office policies and procedures.

€ Participates in the development and fulfillment of goals and objectives of the Billing Department and LIBH Strategic Initiatives.

€ Maintains patient/employee confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines in all aspects of patient/employee care.

€ Demonstrates Medical Associates of Erie’s commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.

€ Attends LIBH staff meetings and prepares briefs, resources, etc. for team on matters related to timely and appropriate billing.

€ Performs other duties, including but not limited to Receptionist and Patient Coordinator, as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required to meet emergency situations.
