Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting by contributing to all steps of the nursing process (assessment; planning; implementation and evaluation). The LPN shall communicate with the RN and seek guidance when the patient’s care needs exceed the LPN’s scope of practice or surpass the LPN’s knowledge, skill or ability. The LPN will also communicate to the RN and/or ED Physician if the patient’s condition deteriorates or there is a significant change in condition. The LPN will notify the RN and/or the ED Physician if the patient is not responding to therapy or the patient becomes unstable and/or the patient needs immediate assistance. The LPN shall obtain instruction and supervision if implementing new or unfamiliar nursing practices or procedures. The LPN should be able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately. The LPN will provide care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. The LPN will determine priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. The LPN will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

- Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.
- Communicates with the Emergency Department RN and physician about symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, RNs, and other co-workers.
- Revises standardized ACI based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning while including family as appropriate.
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Wound Nurse is responsible for the coordination of wound care. These include, but are not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care through standard operating procedures of all wounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Wound Care Certification or Ostomy Certification is preferred but not necessary.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:
- Provide case management for consulting patients providing specific assessment according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management, and acts as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patients’ wound care;
- Provides efficient and effective care with the guidance of the Physician during the wound clinic sessions, attends or follows up on all wound clinic appointments where scheduled. Able to manage a high number of patients at the same time with high energy level and organization;
- Collaborates with other health care providers, wound care Physicians, Nursing Leaders and floor staff, Home Health Agencies, Extended Care Facilities, and Wound Clinic Program Director and Clinical Coordinator, regarding patient needs;
- Will participate in the development and establishment of a goal-oriented skin care protocol;
- Implementation of the skin care protocol and orders within 24 hours or next business day after admission;
- Order entry of initial LECOM Wound Clinic orders;
- Order entry as needed upon changes in skin care;
- Daily review of skin incidents and wound / ulcer report accuracy;
- Liaison to LECOM Health Wound Clinic for transfer assistance;
- Assist in patient / family / employee teaching and education as needed;
- Review, document and report significant changes as well as quarterly and annual care plans;
- If Patient has an active wound, will participate in multi-disciplinary team care plan meetings;
- If Patient has no active wounds, a wound nurse business card will be provided during the care plan meeting;
- Must provide daily skilled wound care on all patients, as applicable;
- Nursing staff will perform head to toe skin assessments upon admission or next business day after admission and communicate results to wound nurse;
- The wound nurse will assess either upon admission or on next business day after admission if there is any presence of a wound;
- The wound nurse will assess within 5 days of an admission if no wound is identified by the nursing staff in their head-to-toe assessment;
- and continue performing at least weekly skin assessments;
- Weekly wound care rounds, follow up and documentation.

Job Summary:
Prepare and cook food for all patients and café customers per menu provided. Consults with Head Cooks/Dietary Manager concerning recipes, amounts of food and portion size. Oversees and assists with daily food production and flow of the Dietary Department in absence of Head Cooks or Dietary Director (weekends/holidays). Supervises Dietary Aides and Café cooks when Head Cooks/Dietary Manager is not available (Evenings/weekends). Assists with maintaining the Dietary Budget by assuring proper management of food and supplies. Carries out special function events related to food services. Assists with patient satisfaction of Food Services by assuring special diets and requests are adhered to. Performs duties of the Head Cooks in their absence.

- Complies with high standards of food preparation and service.
- Follows Erie County and PA Department of Health Regulations and Standards.
- Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
- Cooks’ patient and cafeteria food items, all special orders and luncheons, observing recipe specifications and changes.

- Serve appealing food in proper serving sizes promptly.

- Prepare menu and food items for the next day.
- Locking/Unlocking of all coolers and doors in the kitchen area.
- Record all temperatures in coolers and freezers.
- Alert Head Cooks/Dietary manager to all problems or needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
- Prepares patient meals to assure patients receive correct diets and preferences.
- Able to make independent decisions in the absence of the supervisor
- Attend department staff and educational meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the dietary department.
- May work as Dietary Aide as needed

- Administers therapeutic respiratory care procedures according to hospital and department policies.
- Completes documentation that is required to measure, monitor, and ensure department effectiveness e.g., charting, billing, patient/family education.
- Performs diagnostic respiratory procedures according to hospital and department policies.
- Provides instruction to patients and other members of the healthcare team as needed.
- Schedules cardiopulmonary procedures for internal/external sources.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently.
- Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders. Interprets clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
- Sets up and operates devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators. - Assists to transport mechanically ventilated patients. Responds to all code situations.
- Maintains patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information. *Orders repairs when needed. * Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel. * Supervises students during training.
- Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, such as type and duration of therapy, and medication dosages. Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with physician's orders.
- Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. Performs bronchopulmonary drainage and assists patient in performing breathing exercises. Performs pulmonary function tests to be used by physician in diagnosis of case. Consults with physician in the event of adverse reactions.
