Seth H. Carter, D.O., MSMEd, serves as the Chief of Staff for LECOM Medical Center and Corry Memorial Hospital, as well as geriatric and family medicine physician, preceptor, residency clinical supervisor, and adjunct clinical associate professor for LECOM Health in Erie, Pa. He spends his clinical time divided between the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging, Eastside Medical Center, and LECOM Center for Memory Impairment and Neurocognitive Disorders (MIND). He also serves as a hospice physician for Visiting Nurses Association of Erie County and as the medical director for Twinbrook Healthcare and Rehab in Erie.

In 2025, he was named the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) New Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award recipient. The New Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award honors physicians who have made significant contributions to family medicine between two and five years after completion of a family medicine residency program and demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities that would honor the memory of Michael F. Avallone, D.O., FACOFP dist., after whom the award is named.

Dr. Carter graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine as a Primary Care Scholar (2016) and completed family medicine residency at LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion (2019), a Master of Science in Medical Education from LECOM (2019), and geriatric medicine fellowship also at LECOM Medical Center (2020).

As a board-certified geriatrician, Dr. Carter has worked with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement on several projects to improve dementia-related care across the nation. In July 2024, LECOM Health was chosen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to participate in a new Medicare alternative payment model designed to support people living with dementia and their caregivers. Dr. Carter was hand-selected to participate in piloting the model with a dedicated team of dementia care experts.

In addition to his medical career, Dr. Carter is heavily involved in his community in a variety of ways, most notably by serving in a variety of leadership responsibilities at his church and on the Board of Directors for United Way of Erie County.

Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
