    Michael W. Hankins, Jr., D.P.M., MSMEd, CWSP, FACPM, AACFAS, is board certified in podiatric medicine by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine with an added certificate of qualification in podiatric surgery. He is also board certified in wound care by the American Board of Wound Management. His professional interests include wound care, limb salvage, reconstructive surgery and a mix of clinical/bench research.

    He received his medical degree in Miami from Barry University in 2017. He then completed his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Millcreek Community Hospital in 2020. He also obtained a master’s degree in Medical Education from LECOM during his training and enjoys teaching students and residents as both a faculty member in the LECOM Health Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency and as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education for the LECOM School of Podiatric Medicine. 

    Dr. Hankins has worked in the private practice arena in the past, and both academic and clinical medicine here at LECOM Health. While originally a native of Memphis, Tenn., he now considers Erie his home and is dedicated to keeping the feet of his community healthy! He enjoys spending his free time with his family, staying active, listening to podcasts/audiobooks, and keeping up with current medical literature.
