Acute Care for the Elderly Unit

Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE)
Millcreek Community Hospital is the only area hospital to provide this level of inpatient care in what is called the ACE unit. Staff members are trained in geriatric care and patients are given complete cognitive and physical assessments in addition to the specific medical treatment called for upon hospital admission.

The ACE unit is under the medical direction of fellowship-trained geriatricians from the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging. ACE units have proven to be effective in decreasing functional decline, preventing adverse effects, improving outcomes, and reducing readmission.
