LECOM Health Speech Pathology
An experienced, certified and licensed speech-language pathologist designs services to meet the needs of inpatients and outpatients for a variety of communication and swallowing disorders. People with communication disorders are young, old and in between. Their challenges may have existed from birth or resulted from disease or an accident.
Services for children:
- Articulation/speech disorders/delay
- Language disorders/delay
- Vocal disorders
- Stuttering/dysfluency
- Special summer program for preschool and school-age children
Services for adults:
- Dysphagia/swallowing impairments
- Modified barium swallow studies
- Neurologically impaired communication disorders: aphasia/apraxia/dysarthria
- Vocal disorders
- Stuttering/dysfluency
- Cognitive linguistic disorders
Therapy for outpatients typically consists of 45-minute sessions one to two times a week, Monday – Friday. A comprehensive rehab program will be coordinated for children and adults who also require occupational or physical therapy.
