Job Summary:

The radiology manager oversees the daily functioning of the radiology department, being certain to foster and promote a cohesive work environment.  The manager oversees the staff operation of imaging equipment, evaluates the day-to-day work of staff, provides coaching, monitors performance, and constructively influences staff morale.  The manager is to monitor the status of equipment, equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gather data on equipment malfunction and associated downtime and documents its effects on patient care.

Characteristic job tasks and responsibilities:

• Oversight of the daily work of the department staff.
• Ensuring the quality of the images produces by assessing, coaching and, if necessary, correcting the performance of the radiologic technologists.
• Monitoring the operational status of department equipment.
• Contacting the appropriate equipment service personnel when needed.
• Managing the recording of work hours and submission of payroll.
• Orienting new hires.
• Reviewing and correcting the charges entered for imaging studies.
• Coordinating teleradiology coverage as needed.
• Coordinating MRI services.
• Conducting QI projects.
• Performing patient studies as necessary.
• Scheduling patients and covering the department front desk if needed.
• Complete annual employee evaluations.
• Review applications for employment and interview applicants.
• Prepare the annual departmental budget.
• Evaluative new equipment or equipment upgrades.
• Respond to incident reports.
• Address employee concerns.
• Monitor the status of equipment maintenance agreements.
• Attend required hospital meetings.
