Corry Memorial Hospital is seeking a per diem registered dietitian to oversee all nutrition and food service programs. Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates food and nutrition services for patients, staff, and community.  Provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and dietary education to outpatients, inpatients, employees, and community groups. Interviews and documents on patients in the medical record. Works with Nutrition and Dietetic Technicians (NDTR), Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), and Head Cooks to carry out all food and nutrition services.

Characteristic job tasks and responsibilities:

  • Reviews patient charts on a regular basis and performs nutritional assessments in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Interviews patients for food preferences and assessments. Visits patients and families to review meal plans.
  • Assists in writing all policies and procedures for dietary personnel and dietary services, and reviews new policies with the Administrator of CMH.
  • Develops patient menus for normal and therapeutic diets and approves all patient menus in regard to nutritional adequacy. Approves Diet manual and makes revisions as necessary.
  • Plans educational programs for dietary staff and others as needed.
  • Oversees all food and nutritional services staff as they carry out policy and procedure. (NDTR, CDM, Dietary staff)
  • Collaborates with Physicians, Residents, Nursing, Speech Therapist, and other health care professionals to provide quality nutritional services to patients.
  • Uses latest medical nutrition information to carry out Nutritional Assessment, Diagnosis, Interventions, Monitoring and Evaluation of patients. Develops nutritional plans for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Reviews diet orders for appropriateness and makes recommendations for diet changes or MNT interventions.
  • Reviews food production and service to ensure that established procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Attend meetings to further professional knowledge which will benefit the facility through teaching.
  • Makes facility aware of current Licensure and Certification requirements relative to food service operations.
  • Participates in the quality assurance program.
  • Attends clinical (Team meetings, Patient Care, Patient Safety, Infection control) meetings. May also attend other management related or food service meetings
  • Assists with the development of new programs, expansion of outpatient services, and or enhancement of other services currently provided or anticipated.
