Cardiology Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Medical Associates of Erie is currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in our Cardiology Department.
Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with cardiovascular conditions in collaboration with cardiologists and the multidisciplinary care team. The APP will be responsible for performing assessments, developing and managing treatment plans, conducting diagnostic testing, and promoting cardiovascular health and education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to cardiology patients in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
- Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
- Manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions including hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and post-procedural care.
- Perform or assist with stress testing, device checks, and other cardiology-specific procedures as appropriate.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, medications, and lifestyle modifications for heart health.
- Participate in rounding, discharge planning, and follow-up care coordination.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies.
- Current and valid state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Prior cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
