Corry Memorial Hospital is seeking a dietary service manager to oversees daily operation of the food and nutritional services department. In conjunction with the Registered Dietitian establishes policies, procedures, standards, and objectives. Assists Registered Dietitian with planning, organizing, and directing all functions including but not limited to staffing and staff development, budgeting, purchases, production and distribution of food and nutritional services.

Characteristic job tasks and responsibilities:

• Complies with high standards of food preparation and service.
• Follows Erie County and PA Department of Health Regulations and Standards.
• Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
• Communicates well with co-workers and staff.
• Select, train and assign department staff; plan staffing schedules.
• Supervise food production and services.
• Review and evaluate department activities and adjust as appropriate.
• Manages food and equipment inventory and direct all food orders.
• Coordinates and communicates with Dietitian; obtain signatures as needed for policy and procedure, nutritional assessments, etc.
• Accounts for employee productivity.
• Responsible for review and creating of department policies and procedures with Registered Dietitian.
• Participate in Department Manager meetings per hospital practices.
• Prepare and follow annual budget for department.
• Maintain and update Dietary Manuals as instructed by Dietitian.
• Promote training and meet monthly with all department staff.
• Has knowledge of Food service diets and assists Registered Dietitian and Food service staff in carrying out diet orders for patients.
• Works with Registered Dietitian to provide patients with quality food and nutritional services.
• Assists Registered Dietitian in interviewing patients for food preferences and needs.
• Attends hospital meetings related to managers and clinically related meetings prn needed in place of the Registered Dietitian.
• Maintains required Certifications.
• May fill in as Head Cooks or other staff as needed
• Any other duties as directed by management.

Education, experience, licenses:

Bachelor’s of associate degree in a Food Management, Nutrition, or related field. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) with the Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals or Registered Nutrition and Dietetic Technician (NDTR) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred.  Food Safety Certification required. Knowledge of healthcare related diets preferred.
