Our rural health clinics are in search of a medical assistant to greet and assist patients and visitors, answer telephone, schedule appointments, file, and collect payments.  Assist Clinical personnel with providing patient care to clinic patients.

 

Clerical Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Greet all patients and visitors cheerfully.
  2. Answer telephone, triage calls, and maintain a log of same.
  3. Schedule appointments and referrals to other providers.
  4. Register patients, help with the completion of necessary forms, and direct to the appropriate staff person if needed.
  5. Complete encounter forms upon arrival and checkout.
  6. Prepare EHR/Pull charts of the patients to be seen the following day.
  7. Provide Physician, Mid-level Practitioner, clinical assistants, and Office Manager with copy of daily schedule each morning.
  8. Collect fees from patients for services rendered, if due, and also any outstanding balance.
  9. Reconcile receipts at end of day and prepare deposits.
  10. Maintain neat, clean, and professional work area.
  11. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
  12. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Alert Office Manager to any equipment malfunction.
  13. Attend in-services and other required meetings.
  14. Enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, etc.

Clinical Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Consult with and keep supervisor informed of clinic activities, needs and problems related to patient care.
  2. Comply with established patient care standards. Maintain established           clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.  Follow established routines and utilize supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.  Maintain a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel.
  3. Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee, interdepartmental and public relations. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information and abide by established communications code.
  4. Assist Clinical Personnel with greeting patients and escort to exam room. Take patient vital signs, height and weight and record them in the medical record.  Prepare patient and room for examination.  Discharge patient to receptionist / biller. Clean and disinfect rooms and equipment as appropriate.  Restock supplies, linens, equipment and check for defects and outdating.
  5. Attend required meetings, in-services, and educational programs.
  6. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by Office Manager, Clinical Lead and/or Medical Director.
