Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within an ophthalmology practice. This position involves assisting ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care in a professional and welcoming environment.

Duties

• Conduct preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity and taking patient histories.
• Assist ophthalmologists with various procedures, including administering medications and performing diagnostic tests.
• Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record system.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions.
• Perform medical billing and coding tasks as necessary, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
• Monitor and record vital signs of patients prior to examinations.
• Provide support in retail sales of eyewear and related products, enhancing the overall patient experience.

Requirements

• Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to ophthalmology.
• Familiarity with medical coding and billing processes is preferred.
• Understanding of physiology as it relates to eye health is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a clinical setting or retail sales is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
