Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant administers medically prescribed occupational therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries and muscle, nerve, joint and bone disease, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability by performing a numbered of required duties for the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging, and other LECOM Health entities, in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, regulations, and guidelines to assure that the highest degree of quality care is rendered and LECOM Health’s standard of excellence is achieved.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review physician orders, patient‘s condition, and medical records;
• Review data from the Occupational Therapy evaluation and plan of care including short and long term goals prior to administering treatment;
• Review effective treatment strategies for areas of Activities of Daily Living and Independent Living Skills with the Occupational Therapist;
• Monitor and communicate patient response to occupational therapy treatment;
• Attend meetings in regards to patient care such as care plan meetings, welcome meetings and daily huddles on an as needed basis;
• Assist the Occupational Therapist with patient at discharge including patient and family instruction in safety, mobility, and function;
• Modify Occupational Therapy treatment and plan of care according to patient’s ability and response as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist;
• Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home;
• Record treatment, response, and progress in the electronic medical record. Documentation of patients care and services will adhere to accepted regulatory, corporate and professional guidelines;
• Maintain compliance with appropriate therapy minutes, therapy intensity, and productivity standards on daily basis;
• Adhere to all HIPPA procedures and guidelines in accordance with LECOM Health’s standard of excellence;

Corry Memorial Hospital is searching for a Nurse Aide to assist patients with activities of daily living, provide basic nursing care to patients and assist in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and the Licensed Practical Nurse. Primary responsiblities include:

• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge of patient.
• Performs basic patient care responsibilities appropriate to condition of the patient.
• Communicates to the RN/LPN any observed changes in patient status and responses.
• Assists with feeding patients and maintaining fluid balance with technique appropriate for patient’s conditions.
• Provides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient; answers questions within scope of practice.
• Performs treatments and provides services within scope of practice, such as nutrition, mobility, hygiene, and the answering of call bells.
• Must have ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
• Responds to patients in emergency or physically distressing situations.
• Appropriately cleans and maintains all instruments, equipment, patient units, cupboards, etc. as needed on the unit.
• Appropriately obtains specimens for lab studies done on and off the nursing unit and collects and records information accurately and timely such as vital signs, height and weight and B.P.’s.
• Performs other duties as directed by Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

High School Diploma or GED.  Prior Nurse Aide experience preferred.
