SUMMARY:  Team focused individual with excellent supervisory, writing, time management, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.  Must exhibit flexibility and be able to perform successfully when challenged by changing workflow priorities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises staff and oversees the daily activities of each registration area to maintain department standards.
  2. Plan and schedule work for the staff ensuring adequate coverage and proper distribution of assignments of duties on his/her shift.
  3. Coordinates coverage for call offs within the department.
  4. Participates in on-call rotation to ensure adequate and timely problem solving.
  5. Coordinates lunches and/or breaks as needed.
  6. Performs departmental payroll functions.
  7. Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, and policies and procedures.
  8. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
  9. Completes training and orientation for all staff.
  10. Participates in hiring, monitoring, tracking, and evaluating staff performance.
  11. Identifies, documents, resolves/initiates follow-up of registration, scheduling, and insurance verification issues.
  12. Completes copay/deductible payment reconciliation and provides information to Finance.
  13. Regularly meet with Patient Accounting & Registration Manager to discuss and resolve department issues or obstacles.
  14. Regularly meet with Patient Accounting Leader, Patient Accounting & Registration Manager, and Direct of HIM/Utilization Review to discuss and resolve revenue cycle issues and obstacles.
  15. Regularly hold department huddles and meetings. Maintains ongoing communication with staff to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information.
  16. Member of the Revenue Cycle Team.
  17. Excel in all functions performed by Registration Clerks in all Registration areas and performs these functions as necessary.
  18. Perform additional duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of one to three years prior supervisory experience in registration preferred.

Minimum Skills: Demonstrate reliability and a sense of urgency in completing tasks quickly and in a timely manner.  Excellent customer service skills.  Must show respect for patients, families, and fellow employees in all actions.  Competent use of computer systems and software (including Microsoft Office).

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift 0-20 lbs; reach; stand; walk; bend; move/push 0-20 lbs.  The employee is frequently required to sit for 6 hours or more.
