The hospital received accreditation for nine residency positions to begin in 2024
Corry Memorial Hospital of LECOM Health was awarded accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to begin an Internal Medicine Residency program. The critical access hospital, as designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is the first in the United States to offer such a program.
Approval was granted for nine residency positions, and applications will be accepted immediately with the first cohort starting later this year.
LECOM Health President and CEO John M. Ferretti, D.O., said establishing an internal medicine residency program at the rural hospital is a significant milestone. “This accomplishment reflects alignment with our commitment to advancing health care in rural communities, providing valuable training opportunities for medical professionals, and contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare services.”
James Lin, D.O., will serve as the program director and the designated institutional official (DIO) responsible for oversight of the program.
