Erie, Pa. (October 1, 2025) — LECOM Health today announced that Mary L. Eckert, who has served LECOM Medical Center for 42 years, is transitioning to Director of Community Engagement, LECOM Ambassador, with LECOM Institute for Successful Living.
Throughout more than four decades of leadership and several titles including Administrator, President/CEO, and Executive Director, Eckert has guided the hospital with unwavering commitment, integrity, and compassion. Under her stewardship, LECOM Medical Center has expanded services, embraced challenges, trained future healthcare professionals, and most importantly, fostered a culture where patient care and community well-being always come first.
“It is with deep respect and heartfelt appreciation for Mary’s many years of extraordinary service that we join her in celebration of this transition,” said LECOM Health Regional President Danielle Hansen, D.O.
With this transition, LECOM Health also announces the appointment of Marcus Babiak, PharmD, MHSA, as Chief Operating Officer of LECOM Medical Center, effective Oct. 1, 2025.
From LECOM, Marcus earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2010 and Master’s in Health Services Administration degree in 2015. He has worked for LECOM Medical Center since 2014 and will report directly to Dr. Hansen.
