Welcome to the LECOM Institute for Behavioral Health

Thank you for choosing us to be part of your health care team. The LECOM Institute for Behavioral Health (LIBH) provides compassionate outpatient psychiatric assessment and medication management services to individuals across the lifespan. We look forward to partnering with you to meet your mental health needs.

Teaching Clinic

In addition to our staff of psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, we also have residents in LECOM’s psychiatry residency program who see patients on a regular basis. The mission of LECOM’s Psychiatry Residency Program is to provide residents with a comprehensive, structured cognitive and procedural clinical education in both inpatient and outpatient settings, enabling them to become competent, proficient, and professional osteopathic psychiatrists.

Collaboration and Coordination of Care

With your consent, we collaborate with other providers/agencies and coordinate care across multiple settings and levels of care to help you achieve your wellness goals. We understand how mental health affects physical health and we collaborate with primary care providers to ensure the needs of the whole person are addressed.

Hours of Operation

LECOM Institute for Behavioral Health services are available by appointment at the following times:

Monday………. 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday………. 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday….. 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Thursday……… 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Friday…………. 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Appointments

• Please arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment to complete any necessary paperwork. Arriving later may result in a shortened period with your care team.
• If you are going to be late, please call so we can try to accommodate and adjust the schedule. Arriving late may not allow us enough time to provide the quality treatment we strive to give and may result in the need to reschedule. 
• Children and adolescents under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for all appointments. Adults and older adults with a guardian or power of attorney making healthcare decisions must be accompanied by the decision-maker for all appointments.  Current copies of these legal documents must be provided.
• Time with the psychiatrist is intended to address concerns in a focused and distraction-free environment. Cell phone use during the appointment is prohibited unless being used in support of the treatment goals.
• Appointment cancellations/no-shows should be kept to a minimum for timely access to care and medication. We understand that things you cannot control may prevent you from attending your appointment. If you cannot make your appointment, please call to notify us and reschedule. Repeated cancellations and/or no shows may result in appointment times that are non-preferred.
• We encourage collaborative care. Other service providers supporting your needs are welcome to attend medication management appointments.
• There may be occasional delays when emergencies arise. We apologize for any delays you may experience as a result of this and appreciate your understanding.

After Hours Services

If you need emergency mental health services after regular office hours, contact Crisis Services at (814) 456-2014 and/or to go to the local emergency room for assessment. Life-saving assistance in emergency situations can be obtained from the Fire Department, Police Department, or Emergency Medical Services by dialing 911.

For needs that are less urgent, call your provider’s office during regular office hours for assistance.

Insurance and Billing

We participate with most major insurance carriers and managed healthcare plans. We also accept cash-paying patients. Please call to discuss your particular situation if you change insurance carriers or have questions about participation. If your plan requires a referral, obtain the referral prior to your first appointment. Any required payments or co-payments are due at the time of your visit. We accept cash, personal checks, and most major credit cards. If you are not prepared at the time of your visit, you will be billed for your co-payment. Should you have billing questions, you can speak to our Billing Specialist by calling our main line at (814) 454-3174 and selecting extension 1350.
